This is called a “Lunar Occultation”. Some places in the world Venus (the planet low in the picture below the moon) was seen to vanish behind the moon. The other planet is Jupiter. This is the closest approach of the three in many years, I am not sure how long. The moon and Venus were behind a thin wisp of cloud and so appear a bit hazy.
